Whether you’re trying to get healthier, have dietary restrictions, or are a psychopath who hates milk, finding the right vegan milk brand can be challenging. Regarding lactose, it doesn’t mix well with my skin, so I’ve been searching for good alternatives to dairy products for a while; though one thing I could never quit is milk. There are so many things you can use it for, and it is a staple in many foods. Having to drink cow’s milk all the time is horrible for my skin, so I set out on a mission to save everyone the pain and suffering of having to go through awful vegan alternatives and find the best dairy free milk.

Not Milk:

Not Milk is maybe the closest thing to milk I have ever tasted. I was shocked by how similar it tasted to normal milk, I couldn’t tell the difference at all. I was surprised by how close the pea-protein-based alternative was to the original, probably due to the pineapple juice in it. They nailed this one, 10/10.

Oatly:

Oatly is a very popular brand, and is made out of oats as the name says. This was terrible, I don’t understand the hype behind it. It tasted so watery and the flavor was so weird. It tasted like I was drinking a liquid headache, and it ended up giving me one. The flavor was just awful and I would not recommend it, 2/10.

Ripple:

Ripple, another pea protein brand, was pretty good. I think that the pea protein base brands can achieve a closer flavor to actual milk rather than other bases. I liked this one, though on its own it tasted kind of weird, in other foods like cereal it was really good, 7/10.

Trader Joe’s:

Now hear me out, I didn’t quite know what brand to get for rice-based milk, but I know Trader Joe’s rice milk is pretty popular so I decided to try it. However, I regret that decision, as it was awful. Rice milk in general isn’t that good, so I wasn’t expecting much when I tried it but it was so bad. It tasted dusty and gross and I spit it out immediately. I tried it again in cereal and that helped but on its own I hated it, 1/10.

Silk:

Silk almond milk was god-awful. I’ve tried almond milk before and didn’t hate it, but I don’t remember it being this bad. It again came with this sickening flavor that I hated and another headache-inducing aftertaste. Even cereal didn’t save it, it was so bad. I’m going to have to give this a 1/10.

Overall vegan milk is pretty bad, if you don’t need to drink it I wouldn’t recommend it. My poor mouth could only take so much of these awful replacements before wanting to vomit. The only one I would recommend is Not Milk because of how accurate it is. It was almost better than regular milk. I hope this article helps and saves you from a long painstaking journey of finding the best milk alternatives.
