Goodnight, Franklin Post (Inspired by Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown)

In the big room at the top of the stairs
There were stacks upon stacks of newspapers
And unreliable computers
And chairs pulled up casually
To occupied desks
And scattered Domino’s pizza boxes
And a plastic blocked balcony with a view
And Indesign tantrums
And treats baked out of love
And scrawled writing on the whiteboard
And Kirsch’s cozy blanket corner
And a sign demanding that we be the best version of ourselves
And retreats to the hallway, and a laugh, and a cry, and a sprint and slip
And a place to belong

Goodnight big room
Good night stacks upon stacks of newspapers
Goodnight unreliable computers
Goodnight chairs pulled up casually
To occupied desks
Goodnight scattered Domino’s pizza boxes
Goodnight plastic blocked balcony
Goodnight InDesign tantrums
Goodnight treats baked out of love
Goodnight scrawled writing
Goodnight cozy corner
Goodnight sign
Goodnight retreats to the hallway
Goodnight laughs
Goodnight cries
Goodnight sprints
Goodnight slips
Goodnight to the place we belonged
