This summer, if you’re looking for a fun and fresh playlist to listen to, this is the spot. This playlist is a combination of soft and classic rock, along with a few alternative modern jams. The best place to listen to this would be on a picnic, hanging your head out the car window, or maybe watching a sunset on Mount Tabor. I would advise to listen to these artist’s songs, along with the other works they have created.
- “Scrawny” by Wallows
-The band Wallows, led by childhood friends Dylan Minnette, Cole Preston, and Braeden Lemasters, has been a breakout success following their first single release in 2017. Since then they have released a spring EP, and recently debuted their first album “Scrawny.” The song Scrawny is a take on classic rock with a modern sound to it that will get any head bobbing.
- “Ultimately” by Khai dreams
-I love this song because of its soft tones from a ukulele. It has a very lovey vibe and is super cute to listen to on a sunny day with a significant other.
- “Shrike” by Hozier
-This song is from Hozier’s newest EP “Nina Cried Power.” Along with the last song, it has a very soft tone, but with powerful vocals. It reminded me of summer because of the reference to the “shrike,” a type of bird with a beautiful singing voice.
- “Dirty AF1s” by Alexander 23
-I love this song because of the very modern sound and beautiful storyline with solid vocals. This song is for sure one to walk around listening to in the city.
- “Borderline” by Tame Impala
-Tame Impala has yet to disappoint, and regardless that this is one of their only releases since 2015, the song is incredible. It hits the classic sound of Tame that everyone loves. They killed it at coachella this year, most likely because of their festival sound.
- “Frozen” by Sabrina Claudio
-Claudio has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard, specifically in this song. She sings in a way that makes you want to cry, smile, and fall asleep all at the same time.
- “Generation Why” by Conan Gray
-Gray, a recent breakout has been very impressive so far in his newest EP, “Sunset Season.” His lyrics are very relatable and appeal to teens, since Gray himself is only 19. He understands the sounds that we want to listen to.
- “Wait a Minute!” by Willow
-This song has a very alternative sound to it with very different kinds of vocals by Willow. I could vibe to this song over and over and not get bored of it. Once again another walking song.
- “wtf” by boy pablo
-Similar to Wallows, boy pablo brings a more modern version of classic rock, but with one vocalist. This song is a dancing around song for sure.
Lastly, I would love to thank my Spotify algorithm for helping me discover these songs. I hope everyone is able to enjoy them as much as I do.
