In the dead of night off will I awake
Pulled from slumber by a chilling sound
It causes breath to catch and bones to quake
My demon cat is very tightly wound
He yowls and begs for in his tiny brain
No food has been awarded for his charms
Starvation and abandonment he feigns
Sighing I scoop him up into my arms
Dear cat you have already had your fill
You have no need for esculent delight
But I will pet and scratch your head until
You settle down and give me back my high
He coyly purrs and nestles against my side
He knows his plea will never be denied.
